Those were the first designs of the Fairies and Nihallaks before the comic began. Some notes:
-The fairies' reproduction has been altered, and is internal now.
-The Nihallak's reproduction is still the same, but they can simply clone themselves as well.
-The typical fairy house has been changed for more conventional housing in the open parts of the islands, but in the Giant Forest, those kind of houses are indeed typical.
-Nihallak history will be explored more in depth in the future, but as far as their physical changes go, this is still accurate.
I was looking back through the archive, and I have some questions about reproduction. 1. On page 138, it is revealed that a fairy egg is expelled after one week, whether it is ready or not. How long will a fairy hold Nihallak eggs? 2. Animals that lay eggs have oviducts that create the egg as the zygote travels along it. Faires have a womb. How does that work? 3. Since fairies are born into adulthood, they don't breastfeed their young. So why do they have breasts, and what is the purpose of them producing fairy plasma from their breasts? 4. What's under the magic cave that creates the magic for fairy reproduction? 5. Fairies have a unique life cycle amoung the other fauna on the planet. Were fairies artifically created? Were they created to incubate and nourish another race's young?
ReplyDelete1: The fairy body eject the fairy egg because it can sense it's saturated with energy and need to get out to grow. Nihallak eggs absorb energy until hatching, so it will never be expelled unless the fairy try very hard to do so, it won't happen as a body reflex like women and birth contractions.
Delete2: Fairies have a special organ that act as both an ovary, testicle and prostate. It's called the Prorum, it's fairly large, located above the womb and close to the tail and anus,it process magic energy into whatever is needed, be it sperm or egg. I made some anatomy schemes that details fairy anatomy, they are a lot weirder than they look; they have 2 hearts with very different functions, for example.
3: Breasts are used as excess magic storage, the same way human store fat in certain tissues. They have this to help with reproduction, but also regulate the amount of magic in their body because they can't control how much magic they produce, they are always receiving energy from the high plane at all time.
4: I can't say, that's spoilers.
5: They were artificially created by the Draigjibies to inherit the world after they and the Nihallaks were gone for good. They were made using F-Jibies as template but with sever additions and modifications, such as elemental kinesis. The star fairies were the first, and inherited unique powers and knowledge to guide Fairykind after the last Draigjibies died off. Of the current generation of fairies, only the Star fairies have met a living Draigjiby, the population worship them as their god creators and benefactors, although they know they were mortal and share DNA with them.
Why the Draigjibies created a new race rather than modifying themselves to survive is a mystery yet to be revealed.
Thanks for the answers. You really seem to have thought this out.
