The fairy's reproduction cycle, explained in details with some patron's OC fairies.
At this point in time those details have been already covered in the comic, during the
part at Myri's house, but this predate the scene by probably a year, and a lot of fans were
asking me how it all works and where are the males, so I had to create this.

The page above shows the new fairy to be a blend of the parents, and I assume the new fairy's magic type is also a mix of the parents (if they aren't the same). Is the new fairy's magic determined by genetics, or something else? After Amy lost her magic, Syl and Macey transferred their magic to her, but she became a blend of their magics, not her original electric. Is a fairy's magic based on something internal, or is it based on the infusion of magic from the fairies that tended her cocoon?
ReplyDeleteThis part is a bit tricky. A fairy's element is generally one of the parent's element, who become "dominant" during gestation, which is usually related to the parent's magic power/skill. But there can be exceptions, when a fairy gain both elements and thus become a dual fairy, or when the element jump a generation and the fairy inherit one of the grandparent's element. In this case Corona should be either Water or Magic, but she instead inherited from the lineage, probably on Rafflesy's side as pink fairies are powerful and versatile.
Delete(Those are someone's OC fairies, so the lineage details are a bit blurry)
As for Amy, her case is rather unique. A fairy's elemental power is regulated by the Atma lobe in their brain. That lobe can technically be altered to change the elemental control as some fairies, through rigorous training, can awake dormant elements or even extend their magic control beyond the boundaries of their native element. What happened to Amy can be simplified to a sever brain injury akin to a stroke that disabled at least partially her atma lobe. This cause her to be able to take magic in, as her body is still able to process it, but unable to simply take that energy and turn it into her own element.
Will we get more reproducing soon?
ReplyDeleteIt's not what's planned, no.
